Do you love the taste of store-bought creamers, but not the price or lengthy list of ingredients? Yea, me too. My solution was to start making our own! It's super easy to do and with only 4 ingredients, I feel much better about indulging. We've been making our own for the past few months and have no intention of going back. You can use any extracts you like, but this is our favorite (tastes like Nestle's Italian Sweet Cream). Here's how Mama makes it:
Homemade Sweet Cream Coffee Creamer
Ingredients:
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 t. almond extract
- 3 t. vanilla extract
- 3 c. half & half, or milk
Directions:
1. In a 1 quart container (we re-use old coffee creamer containers and wash between batches of homemade), combine sweetened condensed milk and extracts.
2. Add about half of the half & half, shake to combine, then pour in remaining half & half until almost full. Shake until mixed and enjoy with your favorite coffee. (Shake before each use)
Could I use condensed milk instead of sweetened condensed milk?
ReplyDeleteSame thing
DeleteThose two are not the same.
DeleteI think you’re talking about evaporated milk.
DeleteI tried the not sweetened condensed milk, and it just depends on if you don’t like it sweet and it’s less calories if that’s what you’re looking for just doesn’t seem as creamy
DeleteAlso the sweeten condensed milk is a lot thicker than the non-sweetened condensed milk
DeleteI thought they were
ReplyDeleteDo you mean evaporated milk? Because condensed milk and sweetened condensed milk are the same thing.
ReplyDeleteI thought sweetend condensed milk was thick and sweet and condensed milk was not sweet
DeleteEvaporated is not sweet
Deletethey are totally different
DeleteThere is a very big difference between Evaporated n condense milk which is always sweet n thick Evaporated is thinner. I use both for different things.
DeleteSweet and condensed milk and evaporated milk are two different things….. look it up
ReplyDeleteHow long is it good for?
ReplyDeleteI read it has an expiration date equal to the expiration date as the heavy cream or the milk that is used! The fresher your milk or cream are the longer you can keep using.
DeleteAlso creamer not stored in refrigerator spoils;so pour a bit for your coffee that sits on the counter and refill as needed.
Love this! Make it every week, so delicious. After using silk almond creamer for years, realized the junk ingredients in the creamer. This homemade version is awesome and I add cinnamon
ReplyDeleteI’m definitely going to try this
ReplyDeletein your recipe you pit 1 t. almond extract and 1 t. vanilla extract is the "t" for teaspoon or for tablespoon?
ReplyDeleteUsually “T” is for tablespoon and “t” or “tsp” is for teaspoon, so I would say teaspoon. If it isn’t strong enough you can always add a little more. Hope that helps.
DeleteNot to mention that 3 tablespoons of extract would be a lot!
DeleteI’m new to this homemade stuff, so thank you all for the awesome ideas.
ReplyDeleteWhat would y’all use for sugar free sweetened condensed milk.
ReplyDeleteInstead of half &half or regular milk could you use dry milk made up to equal the 3 cups
ReplyDeleteIm looking for a non dairy version is there one?
ReplyDeleteWe like hazelnut creamer. Could you substitute hazelnut syrup for the almond & vanilla??
ReplyDeleteI think you can add whatever flavor you like.
DeleteYou absolutely can.
DeleteHow long will it last in frig
