Baby Product Review: Peanut's Favorite Smoothie Cup - Nuby Super StrawEasy Grip Cup

Nuby Super Straw Easy Grip Cup

First of all, I would love to tell you that I spend hours researching the perfect smoothie cup with a non-spill straw that's easy to hold, easy to use, and easy to clean.   But that just isn't the case with this one.  In fact, I didn't even buy it.  This cup was bought by my very own professional baby shopper (aka Grandma) and was convenienty waiting for Peanut in her cupboard last time we stopped through for a quick visit.  Annalyn was instantly drawn to it (what one-year-old doesn't love straws?) and so was I after watching her walk around the house without spilling a drop (minus the occasional mouthful she intentional dribbles down her chin to be ornery).   Shamelessly, we asked Grandma Cindy where she bought it (Target) and if we could have it!  Like any good grandma, she sent it home with us, saying she would just replace it next time she got to the store.  Ya just can't beat grandparents, am I right?

Being the smoothie-obsessed mama that I am, I filled this lovely little dear up with a smoothie the first chance that I got.  As I've probably mentioned before, we've started a little mini-tradition in our household called "Family Smoothie Time" where Mama makes a big 'ole blender full of fruit/veggies/yogurt/juice/ice and we all take time to sit down and enjoy a smoothie together.  I think Annalyn is actually starting to understand what it means and she runs into the kitchen at the mention of it.  She loves for me to pick her up so she can watch the blender (which she isn't afraid of any longer).

Cousin Chloe even got in on
the action the other night.
(I just love how intense we all are! HA!)

Honestly, we have been amazed at how well she does with this cup.  The only other no-spill type straw cup we'd tried was one with the flip down lid and she wasn't all that impressed with it (she seemed to have more trouble with that one and was more interested in the lid than what was inside it).  I would definitely recommend this cup for older babies and younger toddlers due to the soft spill proof straw.  You can buy it at Amazon for about $6.99 for 2, so it's also not going to break the bank.  Simple, smart, and effective - every mama's dream!

Want the recipe for this beautiful green smoothie? Of course!

Mango Pineapple Banana Smoothie
Ingredients:
- 1 can pineapple, drained
- 1.5 bananas
- 1 c. yogurt
- 1/2 c. mango (fresh/frozen)
- handful of baby spinach (don't worry, it looks very green but it doesn't taste green)
- 1 c. orange juice or peach juice
- 1 t. vanilla extract
- 1 T. ground flaxseed (if you're into that sorta thing)
- 1 c. ice

Directions:
1.  Blend like crazy, pour into glasses, convince the hubby it won't taste like straight spinach, and enjoy!
(Don't forget to marvel at the fact that it tastes so good, and rub in the "I told you so!" to those who doubted the green)

Heres to many a happy Family Smoothie Times!

Love,

Mama

(of course, everything tastes better out of Mama's glass,
regardless of how cool your own cup is)
