Countdown to Christmas: Great Grandma Hanke's Sloppy Joes

Here's a super easy, delicious recipe that was originally my Great Grandma's.   I love this recipe because it's so simple and can be made in a slow cooker or on the stove.  It's perfect for busy weeknights or days filled with Christmas baking!  We also like it for big family get-togethers (but be sure to at least double this recipe).  The sauce is flavorful but mild, which makes it perfect for kids from 1 to 92 (coincidently, that's about how old Peanut & her Great-Great Grandma are!).

Great Grandma Hanke's Sloppy Joes

Ingredients:

- 1 lb. ground beef (or turkey)
- 1/2 onion
- salt/pepper to taste
- 1 cup water
- 1 T. flour
- 1 cup ketchup
- buns

Directions:

1.  Brown the ground beef over medium-high heat.  Add onions and saute until soft, about 2 minutes.  Add salt/pepper to taste.  (If using a slow cooker, place meat in slow cooker over low heat)

2.  Mix 1 T. flour into 1 cup water, then add ketchup and stir to combine.  Add to meat mixture.

3.  Bring to simmer, reduce heat to low-med and simmer until desired consistency.  (Or cook in slow cooker on low for 4-6 hours.)  Serve on buns, extra sloppy! :)
