Peanut Post: Overnight Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

Equal parts of oats, milk, and yogurt give this dish is creamy, delightful texture and taste with minimal effort.  Granted, oatmeal is not an extremely labor-intensive dish to begin with, but anyone with a kid/pet/job/spouse/life will agree that an extra 15 or so minutes each morning is a huge deal.  Besides, who doesn't love waking up to breakfast already made for them?  I know this mama does!   Here's a toddler friendly version of this delicious breakfast staple:

Overnight Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

Ingredients:
basic overnight oats:
- 1/4 c. rolled oats
- 1/4 c. milk
- 1/4 c. vanilla yogurt
suggested add-ins:
- 1/4 c. unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 t. cinnamon

Directions:

1.  Combine oats, milk, and yogurt in a plastic or glass dish with a lid.  (optional:  cover and refrigerate until morning, then stir in add-ins such as applesauce, bananas, blueberries, etc.  This works well if you are making it for more than one person or want to make different varieties.)

2.  Stir in applesauce and cinnamon.  Cover and refrigerate overnight, at least 8-10 hours.

these are some of Peanut's favorite add-ins,
apples and cinnamon.
stay tuned for more great flavor combinations
as more fruit comes into season!

3pm the day before...

3.  Serve cold as porridge or warm slightly for traditional oatmeal. (Peanut ate it both ways, but I think she preferred it warm.  It's hard to say these days because she's always telling me she's hungry... growing girl!)

9am the next day!
perfectly "cooked" oatmeal

And what would a Peanut post be without Peanut...
